چکیده

We propose a geometrically nonlinear extended isogeometric analysis approach for cohesive fracture. A shifting technique is used to enforce compatibility in the direction perpendicular crack path, while blending has been adopted remove effect of discontinuity extension crack. Bézier extraction employed cast formulation finite element datastructure. The use sign function instead Heaviside step removes need make an assumption normal at its centreline. Examples are given illustrate methodology, including buckling delaminated structure and assessment interface contribution tangent stiffness matrix.

MULTI FRACTURE/DELAMINATION ANALYSIS OF COMPOSITES SUBJECTED TO IMPACT LOADINGS

A combined finite/ discrete element method is presented for modelling of composite specimens subjected to dynamic/impact loadings. The main task is set on developing an algorithm for simulation of potential bonding and debonding/delamination phenomena during impact or general dynamic loading conditions. In addition, full fracture analysis can also be performed. The proposed approach adopts a ge...

Isogeometric cohesive elements for two and three dimensional composite delamination analysis

Isogeometric cohesive elements are presented for modeling two and three dimensional delaminated composite structures. We exploit the knot insertion algorithm offered by NURBS (Non Uniform Rational B-splines) to generate cohesive elements along delamination planes in an automatic fashion. A complete computational framework is presented including pre-processing, processing and post-processing. Th...

Isogeometric analysis with geometrically continuous functions on two-patch geometries

We study the linear space of C-smooth isogeometric functions defined on a multi-patch domain Ω ⊂ R. We show that the construction of these functions is closely related to the concept of geometric continuity of surfaces, which has originated in geometric design. More precisely, the C-smoothness of isogeometric functions is found to be equivalent to geometric smoothness of the same order (G-smoot...

Mixed-mode Cohesive-zone Models for Delamination and Deflection in Composites

Cohesive-zone models for interfaces incorporate both strength and energy parameters. Therefore, they provide a natural bridge between strength-based models and energy-based models for fracture, allowing delamination to be described by a single framework that covers a range of applications for which the strength or energy criteria alone might not be sufficient. In this paper, the relationships b...
